Juneteenth is an American holiday that commemorates June 19, 1865, the day in which the state of Texas announced the abolition of slavery in the United States. Each year , Juneteenth in the United States. Juneteenth is now recognized as a state holiday or special day of observance. Each year, this holdiayis celebrated across our country with different events and festivals.

Here is a list of Juneteenth events that will be in our area:

Pontotoc County Juneteenth Festival, June 15, 2019, Pontotoc, MS

Parade Kickoff - 10:00 AM (Normal City parade route: Main St. to W. Green St. to S. College St.)

Honoring African American Veterans, Queens, and Students

Opening Ceremony begins promptly @ 11:00 AM under the First Choice Bank Pavilion with Emcee Brandon Burnside conducting the ceremony. 

Parking will be available in Gateway parking area, PHS track parking lot, and the building across from the building on the opposite side of W. Reynold's St. only until Reeders shuts down operations for the day. 

LIVE entertainment from artists and dance groups, Outdoor Juneteenth History Exhibit, Yard Games, Selfie Photo Booth, Kids Corner: Bouncer, Face Painting, Goody Bags (First Come First Serve), Crafts, Drum Circle, Story Reading and Puppet Show, and much more
