R&B singer Jahiem is once again facing heavy criticism and legal trouble after being arrested in Atlanta on new animal cruelty charges. Police say officers found four pit bull terriers, a French bulldog, and a mixed-breed hound in poor living conditions at his home. According to the arrest report, the dogs did not have enough clean water, proper ventilation, or a sanitary place to stay.
Fans were quick to voice their anger online. Many said they were shocked that Jahiem could allow this to happen, especially because this is not his first run-in with animal welfare laws. Three years ago, the singer was arrested in New Jersey on similar charges. In that case, he was accused of failing to provide necessary care for multiple dogs at his residence.
Jahiem rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits like “Just in Case” and “Put That Woman First.” His smooth voice won him several award nominations, but his recent legal issues have overshadowed his music career. Animal rights groups in both Georgia and New Jersey have called for stricter penalties if he is found guilty again.
Under Georgia law, animal cruelty can lead to fines and jail time, especially for repeat offenders. As of now, Jahiem has not released a public statement.
